Matt and Kristin's On-line Wedding Scrapbook |

The First Birthday Party Friday night was the birthday of Matt's dad Bill. The party began with hors d'oeuvres and informal picture showing. While Bill's PowerPoint show was flipping through slides automatically, several tables had been set up for people to leave photo albums for public viewing. Pat, Jamie, and Ann brought photos of Kristin's family. Bill brought hard copy mosaics of Matt's family that he had created on computer, including family potraits dating back 80 years. Apparently our invitations were considered too pretty read by most, as they failed to notice that the Friday night event was intended to be a costume party. Matt got his wish and Kristin wore her cowboy shirt. Jamie and Neil won the costume prize for their Captain Kirk and Princess Leah attire, with a close second from Pat, dressed as the court jester. If she had left the jingly hat on, she likely would have won... The more official part of the evening began with Kristin's presentation. It began with many juicy slides of family and friends when they were much younger and progressed into modern years and pictures of the newest members of the family. During the presentation, whenever the first picture of someone in the crowd was shown, everyone cheered and clapped. Matt's presentation followed. Because only a few members of his biologic family could attend, he showed pictures of his several extended families as well, including his DU family, science family, and Fairbanks family, many of whom were present. Similar to Kristin's presentation, at the first picture of someone in the crowd appeared, everyone cheered and clapped. Each of us told some of our favorite stories about our family and friends, but time could not permit telling them all, as our intention was to let everyone else tell their own stories and share photos. And that they did. We hestitated to make the list below, because we know that we're forgetting several people; if you would like to add yourself to the list (or take yourself off!), please contact us. Jon began by explaining a recent revelation of his regarding a minor auto accident with Matt in their younger days. Heather told a story of hiking with Kristin and trials they faced together. Jamie hoped that the Force would be with us, always. Scott told a few road trip stories and tried to convince the audience that his involvement in the hot tub pictures was purely innocent and as chaperone to the deliquent youths he hung out with. Nick explained his suspicion that Matt's typically-misunderstood angelic streak likely comes from his father, who's past reflects many similar aspects. Tom came dressed in one of Matt's cowboy shirts and hats and briefly attempted to be as funny as Matt, but then told a few stories of frozen boots and back country trips. Peter debunked several of the myths related to Lucky Ice, in a PowerPoint presentation that was well received but had him wondering about his next paycheck for a little while. The upshot of the evening was perhaps summed up best by Chuck after it was all over -- 'This isn't one of those stuck up wedding where even the jokes are stupid. This is actually fun!' The PowerPoint presentations shown that night can be viewed by following the links below. Please understand that these were made fairly quickly and there are few if any captions. If we have some time on our hands one day, we might add some, but even now we can barely remember what we said.
