Talkeetna Activities Flightseeing They don’t believe any glacier landings will be possible by September, the snow is already pretty soft. The following tour packages will still be available: Denali Grand Tour - $185 McKinley Flyer - $165 McKinley Experience - $125 McKinley Climber - $205 See web page for details
Typically by 9/21 these guys have stopped flying, but if the weather is still good, and enough people are interested in a helicopter tour, they said they would be available. Please let us know if you’re interested so we can negotiate prices with them. Fishing, Boats & Rafting Mahay’s Riverboat Service 1-800-736-2210 www.mahaysriverboat.com My Dad highly recommends this boat ride. In late September they recommend either the McKinley Jetboat Safari ($50/2 hrs), or the Safari with the Salmon Bake ($95/3 hrs). River levels at that time should be pretty low making the other tours unavailable. Kids under 12 are half price, and if you ask for Sandy and mention the Scott-Nolan wedding you get 10% off.
As mentioned above the river will be pretty low by 9/21, so they recommend either their 2 hour Talkeetna River trip ($54), or their 4 hour Chulitna River Trip ($84). Their boats handle 8 people at a time, and you can specify whether you want to paddle of if you want the guide to be the oarsman as well. If you mention the Scott-Nolan wedding you can get a 20% discount. In addition to rafting, you can also fish with TRG. They have half day trips ($129), Full day trips ($175) which include lunch, and a special Jet Boat up/raft back trip ($329).
Apparently the silver salmon are usually still running by the end of September and with the low water levels they’re pretty easy to catch. These folks have a half day ($135) and full day trips ($185) available. The full day trip includes lunch. There are 6 people to a boat, and they have 4 boats available.
Horses & Dogs Sun Dog Kennel 1-800-318-2534 www.sundogkennel.com These guys provide a 1 ½ hour tour of their sled dog kennel, which includes seeing the dogs and puppies and a short dog mushing ride. The tour is $45/person.
There are a number of different trips available each seem to include a little of town, and as much of McKinley viewing as they have time for. Obviously the longer trips have more mountain views, and the 5 hour trip comes with lunch. The prices are:1 hour - $55, 1 ½ hour - $70, 2 hour - $85, 5 hour - $160 (I think) Other Activities and
